Bottom line: Weed control fabric only temporarily reduces the number of weeds. It prevents soil improvement and keeps the soil to wet. It is useful when making decorative stone paths. With over 30 years experience in the green industry, Jim has worked in high end garden centers, residential and commercial landscaping, started a successful landscape company, and a wholesale growing nursery.

Thanks, Jim! Excellent!! Great help!
I take it that you said it’s a good idea to lay fabrics beneath gravel. am I right? I have the landscape with a dry creek with gravel. Currently, the fabric beneath the gravel has been there for more than 10-15 years and the gravel sometimes is mixed with soil. Any suggestion??.
Best regards,
Tim
