Shouldn’t the wire mesh go on top of the bulbs to prevents rodents from digging them up?
Here is a tip. After watching a squirrel dig up bulbs that I just planted, the old lady next door told me to sprinkle a few moth flakes in the hole. It stopped the critter. Bulbs are now safe.
